Is expired diet green tea still okay to drink?

USMC Wife <3 Proud Mommy asked:

I bought a case of Lipton Diet Green Tea today, the expiration date is Dec 22 08. Is it still safe to drink? I know the artificial sweeteners may have lost some taste, I’m just worried about the safety.
It’s definitely an 8…. I thought they restocked stuff all the time. I live in San Diego. lol

your store probably wouldnt sell something with the date as 2008, unless you really live out there in the woods or something.

make sure the 08 isn’t actually an 09… they tend to look VERY similar on those date stamps!

    Losing weight without starving yourself

Return it to the store manager and get a refund or an exchange for fresh product. I don’t think it would poison you, but you may as well get what you pay for. The store manager should be alerted before the Health Department finds out. He may be unaware, but the store is breaking the law.

    yes, its safe to drink.
    Most of the artificial sweetners
and flavours and every other chemical
    will keep this product drinkable.
You may want to inform the store.
    Good luck

    How to Lose Weight

I wouldn’t worry about safety, because it is not perishable. Try returning it to the store for an exchange. Otherwise, you might need to use a little extra to get the full taste of the product.
