How do you clean stinky gym clothes?

eye_the_ocean asked:

I usually do my laundry with Tide, but I just noticed my gym clothes still smell after going through the wash, and it’s not a good smell! My gym clothes are all washed together, and I don’t have the time to wash everything immediately after wearing it. Any suggestions on detergents or warm water vs. hot water vs. ????? Thanks!

Temp of the water wont matter too much. A product that I will stand by is a power booster made by OXi Clean. It comes in a little blue bottle and is like $5 at walmart. I used it when my husbands little cousin stayed with us.. took care of football clothes.

Use Borax…it’s great for getting stinky out of clothes…or you can try a sudsy ammonia. I find my nighgowns – I am getting hot flashes these days – get kind of stinky. Ammonia freshens them right up.

Surf detergent usually works best for me on all my husband’s sweaty and greasy clothes. Once you get the smell out, then try spraying Fabreez or All Fabric freshners on your clothes after you take them off and are not going to wash them right away. I actually like “All Fabric Freshner” best, as it just spells better than Fabreez.
